Monitoring training module (MON)

Abstract

The MON Training module aims at covering monitoring/performance/capacity punchplatform metrics and tools.

The module also covers some troubleshooting and tuning tracks based on these tools.

Before You Start

Welcome to the Punchplatform Monitoring training module.

This training requires that you are familiar with the concepts, components and general configuration of the punchplatform, through previously working through the HLI (High Level introduction) training module to Punch features, components and concepts

Additional understanding of the working and/or monitoring of business processing punchlines is needed, that can be obtained through either of the following training modules :

• the CPA (Channels, Punchlines and Applications configuration) training module.

• the ADM (Administration/operation/troubleshooting) training module.

To practice the presented tools and commands requires that you have access to some deployed multi-servers test platform (like the Punchbox project) or have access to a training platform to be able to run commands on test applications and clustered environment.

Covered topics / learning tracks

This training module is made of several tracks, better followed in sequence:

• monitoring the platform software framework (the Platform monitoring service, Health API and associated standard dashboards)

• monitoring the channels and applications (the applications metrics overview, the Channels Health service, the standard and custom dashboards)

• troubleshooting the channel problems (ack/fails, backlogs, latencies)
